Ark Valley pride parade

Meet your community beginning at 2:30 P.M. in alpine park - On the corner of 4th + E Street!

Each year the the Ark Valley Pride Parade grows larger and larger! Over the last ten years, thousands of Chaffee County residents have walked in solidarity with members of the LGBTQIA+ community, their families, and allies.

“People-powered” means just that - skates, skateboards, unicycles, wheelchairs…all are welcome!

2:30 p.m. - Meet in Alpine Park
As F Street is currently unavailable for parades, we will gather in Alpine Park at the corner of 4th and E Streets - our new parade route! A zhuzhing table to help you put finishing touches on yourself and/or your people-powered ride will be available.

3:00 p.m. - Ark Valley Pride Parade
We will be led by a Salida Police Department escort down E Street to Riverside Park. Pace yourself for maximum flag-waving and joy-sharing with our spectators! See you at Riverside!

What do I wear?
Since it is the Purple People Powered Pride Parade, we hope that you will wear purple, a color representing unity. Be fabulous, be YOU!

May we have a float?
As long as it is powered by people, you can do what you need to do. Bicycles, skateboards, wheelchairs, tricycles, wagons, etc. If you can push it, pull it, or pedal it, you can be a part of the parade.

Is there parking?
Two-hour street parking is available throughout Downtown Salida. Free municipal lots are available on 1st Street between G and I Streets (dirt lot), at the SteamPlant Event Center at 220 West Sackett Avenue, and between 1st and Sackett on G Street.

Should we make signs?
Absolutely! We just ask that your messages are inclusive, positive, and respectful of others. This is a family-friendly, community-oriented event.

Can my organization march in the Parade?
As long as your group represents an inclusive, positive, and respectful message, you are absolutely welcome!

Are pets welcome?
Although pets are welcome in the parade, they are not allowed in either of the parks. We recommend making care arrangements for your furry family members.
